FROM MR. HUNT

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support. This has been a very busy time of year. We have had the Spelling Bee, Lincoln Birthday Celebration, Parent Teacher Conferences, and Jazz Reading.

Basketball

We'd like to recognize our basketball teams. Our Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball teams took 3rd place in the state tournament. It was a great year with great athletes.

St. Patrick's Day - March 17th

Students will be allowed to wear green shirts on March 17th. They must be in uniform pants, but can wear a green shirt that day.

THANK YOU

Thanks for your support of our school.  I often accredit other schools.  This past week I visited a school in Northern Utah.  They talked about the concerns they had and the lack of home support.  I'm grateful to be able to work with families who support their students in their educational efforts.  Lincoln is a fantastic place to be!

PARENT COUNCIL NEWS

Dear Lincoln Families,

I want to offer up a huge thank you to all those who have helped with the many things the Parent Council had going on this last month. It was so fun to see all your students so excited to have a Utah Jazz player come and visit with them. Thank you to the Jazz Reading Committee for all your planning and time which resulted in a successful Jazz Reading Month.  Many thanks also to everyone who was involved with the Lincoln Birthday Celebration. Also thank you to those who have helped with the Box Top Store; it was a successful drive for Box Tops. Your students loved it! Start saving your donations and box tops for next year.  Thank you to all those who helped with the PTC dinner as well.  I am sure I have left someone out, but please consider our fondest thank you.

This month the PC is celebrating our fabulous teaching staff. We truly have some wonderful people who put in so much effort teaching our students. I hope we can all remember to give them our thanks.

LINCOLN JAZZ READING

In addition to the great write up in the news which we posted on Facebook last week, we thought you would enjoy reading the letter we received from Scholastic:

Dear Principal, Teachers, Volunteers, and Students,

We would like to thank you for your participation in the Be a Team Player – Read.

2016 Utah Jazz and Scholastic Book Fairs Reading contest.

Even more, thank you for all of your efforts in promoting the love of reading. I don’t believe there is a stronger gift than the gift of reading.

This year we had nearly 19,000 students read more than 11,333,832 minutes! Wow! That is something we all should be very proud of.

We hope your schools had a lot of fun and helped boost the reading in your school.

Listed below are the top 10 schools in alphabetical order.

You all did an outstanding job! Congratulations.

BOX TOPS NEWS

Box Tops Store Success!

Our Box Tops store profited the school over $900 this year!! Way to go students and parents! Monies earned from the Box Tops are used to purchase playground equipment, so keep saving those Box Tops, and we will continue the store next school year. Let’s set a goal to earn $1,500 for the year 2016 – 2017.

We will continue to accept donations through the remainder of the year and also through the summer months. More details for summer drop off will be available at a later date.

Please check any Box Tops you may have at home, and if they are going to expire, please turn those in to the office. We can continue to turn in the Box Tops each month so don’t let them expire!

Thank you for your support for a successful Box Tops year!

RESTAURANT FUNDRAISER

Tuesday, March 22nd at Chick fil-A in American Fork (near Kohl's). 3-10 pm

Don’t forget your flyer because it is required for Lincoln to earn money.

Note: Chick fil-A has a new program. If all family members silence their devices and put them in their box at the table, and refrain from using their devices the whole meal time, the family members will receive a free ice cream! It's an excellent program trying to get families to spend time talking to each other instead of being distracted by their phones! :) Go on March 22nd and give it a try!!!
