FROM MR. HUNT

Dear Parents:

I want to thank you for your support. We have completed our re-enrollment and will be reviewing your input from the surveys.  We thank you for your time and commitment.

Thank you as well for promoting our school: We have had a great turnout to our open house and many of our tours.

Parent Teacher Conferences this week:

Remember that Parent Teacher Conferences for junior high and elementary are on Wednesday, February 10th, from 3:00-8:00 and again on Thursday, February 11th for elementary students, from 3:00-6:00. If you haven't signed up yet, your elementary teachers should have sent you an electronic link to their sign up page.  If you signed up in the binders in the front office, your appointment has been transferred to the electronic sign up.

As a courtesy to all junior high parents, if you need to meet with a junior high teacher for longer than five minutes, please schedule an appointment outside of Parent Teacher Conferences.

Parent/Administration Meeting

On February 26th at 8:00 am, we will be addressing common concerns that were brought up in your re-enrollment survey.  As the date gets closer, we will provide a list of topics that we will cover.

PARENT COUNCIL NEWS

Lincoln Families,

February is another busy month. Please plan on attending the Lincoln Birthday Celebration on February 22nd at 7 pm. There will be a program along with the annual cake decorating contest. This is a fun evening to celebrate our school’s namesake. Thank you for supporting the Jazz Read-A-Thon. Wouldn't it be so awesome for our school to read a MILLION minutes? Keep Reading!

Thanks again to all the parent volunteers. Our school is a great place thanks to all of you.

"Where there is kindness, there is goodness, and where there is goodness, there is magic."     -Disney’s Cinderella

Many thanks from the Parent Council.

LINCOLN JAZZ READING

There's a week and a half left of our Jazz Reading Contest, and we NEED MORE MINUTES! Our minutes to date are 387, 868 after Friday’s numbers. To earn a week of free dress we need 612, 132 more minutes over the next week and long weekend. We can do it!!

We want every single minute reported, and to make it easier on you, you can now email minutes to your student’s teacher. You can email minutes to teachers at any time, but if you want your child’s minutes counted toward the weekly raffle, minutes must be in by start of school on Tuesday both this week and next. Minutes emailed after start of school this Tuesday will count towards the final raffle on Tuesday, February 16th. We hope this will help if your child forgot the logs or didn't fill them out completely. Also, please report any past minutes that might not have been turned in.

Volunteer hours! With all of our super readers, we have used all of the dinosaur tracks. You can come pick up a packet in the office, take it home, and complete it for volunteer hours. We need a lot of help right now with this project!

Morning reading continues! Please bring your child early and help them earn more minutes? We love reading to your students in the morning, and it helps us all reach our goals!

Big prizes are coming! We are building up to our grand raffle with Jazz tickets, a Lego set, huge pillow pet, and other fun prizes. Increase your student’s chances in the raffles by ensuring that all minutes are reported!

Thanks for all your help, and keep reading!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. LINCOLN

The annual Lincoln Birthday Celebration is coming up on February 22nd at 7:00 pm in the elementary gym. Join us for a patriotic program commemorating the great leader for whom Lincoln Academy is named.

Cake Decorators: If you are participating in this year’s cake decorating contest, please have your cake in the lunchroom by 6:30 pm.

Volunteers still needed! If you can help hang student art, serve cake, set up or clean up, please contact Jennifer Christiansen ASAP. We could really use your help! pc@lincoln-academy.org

STATE BILL 38-INCREASING FUNDING EQUITY FOR PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS

It’s not too late to make your voice heard in support of State Bill 38 which has the potential to bring significantly more dollars per student to Lincoln Academy.  Please follow the link provided to find out more information, endorse the bill, and get involved.

As a thank you for supporting Lincoln Academy we will credit 1 volunteer hour for each 4 individual emails you write to state Senators.  Just adding Senators to the address line won’t count- each email should be individually addressed and only sent to one individual at a time.

If you sign up, Utah Charter Advocates will contact you via email, letting you know when they need you to send emails to state Senators and Representatives.  The Senate should be voting on the issue today, and then, if it passes, it still has to work its way through the House.  Your voice is needed!

BOX TOPS NEWS

Box Tops School Store

The kids are all asking for more days to shop! Therefore, we will open the Box Tops store on the following dates, and we need your help. Donations are still needed. Please continue to bring them in to the front office or contact Valerie at 801-592-7163.

Upcoming Store Dates:

February 26th

March 25th

April 29th

Volunteers Needed:

more

We need two volunteers for each date to be at the school from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You will be setting up, taking down, and manning the store during that time. During the slower times, please plan on cutting out and counting Box Tops while you wait for students to come shop.

We will then need more cutters and counters to finish what does not get done that day.

We also need a few posters.  If we have posters along the carpool route, I think we will get more donations and parents will remember to send the Box Tops with their children. The first set of posters could read something like "Accepting Donations for Box Tops Store," and the next set could be "Box Tops Store open this Friday," and the next set "Box Tops Store Open Today."  A couple of each poster saying the same thing to be placed along the carpool route should be a great place to start.  Remember we will need the back of the school covered for the afternoon pickup.

If we could make the posters nice and use them again next year, that would be ideal!

If you can volunteer your time or make posters, please email Valerie: beekeepersofwj@comcast.net

Box Tops may also be donated directly to the front office if you have a student who is not interested in participating in the store.

Help our school win an additional 2500 Box Tops by following this link!

http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/sweepstakes/2016/new-year-new-site?utm_source=Email_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=BTFE_01_21_2016&vcode=AQAAAADEA-Up2Cwuj0Re4WRlnEhk7JbdKylbi0Vh3nY0WdJsEtrNNAjXHck70BTF9vOBMaRNQE563iqKpV9VahiFauoRfujMqnLVkHh9GqPmna2M-w

The more people from our school who enter, the grater our chance to win.

RESTAURANT FUNDRAISER

Our restaurant fundraiser is Tuesday, February 9th from 5-8:00 pm (only) at Wendy's in Highland. We'd love to see you! It's always fun to see Lincoln friends! Thanks for your support!
