Student Pick-up

We encourage everyone to pick up your student on school grounds. However, if your students are picked up off school grounds, please remind them to be respectful, and ensure they are not waiting on, playing on, or disturbing the neighbors’ property.

To ensure students are properly supervised after school, we will have all students in the back move to the front of the school if they are not picked up before 2:45.  If you pick up your students in the back of the school and arrive after 2:45, the gates will be closed, and your student will be in the front of the school waiting for you.

SAGE INTERIM TESTING

Lincoln Academy students will be taking the SAGE Interim test starting November 16th. This is a test designed to identify your student's progress so far this year. Teachers will have immediate results and use these scores to re-teach your students concepts that they have yet to master. The SAGE Interim is much shorter than the end of the year SAGE test. This test will only take 30-40 minutes per subject.

Your teacher will be letting you know these testing dates so you can help prepare your students.

Parent/Admin Meeting on Assessment

We will be meeting at 8:00 on November 12th in the library to share more about the assessments we use at Lincoln Academy. This is a great time to learn about SAGE Interim, end of year SAGE, NWEA, common assessments given in class, formative assessment taking place regularly, and the impact this has on your student's education.

PARENT COUNCIL NEWS

As November is the month to be grateful for our blessings, I must say thank you to all of our Parent Council chair members for the work they do within each of their committees. You are all amazing!

Thank you to all the families who have donated $35 to our mobile technology fundraiser. We are still collecting donations. It's not too late to send your donation in to the finance office. Thank you so much for all your generosity both with time and resources. It all makes Lincoln Academy a wonderful place for our students to learn.

"Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving."

TEACHER APPRECIATION

The teacher appreciation committee has extended the timeline for families to donate $5 towards junior high teacher gifts.  We will accept donations at the front desk until November 20th as we have not received much yet.  The reason we are trying to collect early this year is so that we can make purchases during the holidays to get deals and make the best use of our funds.

We are also looking for massage therapists that would be willing to donate their time to give our teachers chair massages in March for teacher appreciation week.  If you are interested or know of anyone, please contact me at: bluejenmom@gmail.com

Thank you!

HEALTH WEEK

HEALTH WEEK is THIS WEEK!

November 9-13

Get excited to help your student(s) have healthy habits this week!

Today your student will be bringing home a Health Week Challenge Chart.  Please hang it somewhere in your home where it can be seen easily! Help them mark off each healthy habit they accomplish each day, and sign it at the end of the week.

The next Monday, November 16, they need to turn in their Challenge Chart to their teachers.

more

Every student who earns at least 40 out of the 50 possible points, will get a raffle ticket for the Health Week prize drawing.  Prizes include gift cards to Old Navy, Boondocks, and Utah Run, as well as fun sports equipment!  The drawing will be held during school on Tuesday, November 17.  Other ways to earn raffle tickets include running laps during lunchtime, and participating in the Health Week activities.

Each day of Health Week will have a different focus- so talk to your kids about what they've learned each day!

Monday- Healthy Hearts

Tuesday- Healthy Friendships

Wednesday- Healthy Food

Thursday- Healthy Heads

Friday- Healthy Families: On Friday, families are invited to come during lunchtime, between 11am-1pm, bring their own healthy sack lunch to eat OUTSIDE with their kids, and participate in a Fit Family Obstacle Course!  In case of inclement weather, this activity will be cancelled due to their being not enough room for all families inside! Teachers will email parents with any updates!

If you have any questions concerning Health Week, feel free to contact Rachel Pierce at rachelwhitepierce@gmail.com or (801)450-9105.
