Last Day of School
The last day of school is Friday May 22nd. It is a Free Dress day as well as a short day. School will be released that day at 11:00.

Summer Classes/Camps
Just a reminder that we are offering summer classes. If you have a junior high student that has struggled in math we have summer school that can help them make up some of their grades. We also have science classes for students currently in 8th and 9th grade where they can get elective science credit.

Summer Education

I find that students who continue to do some educational work over the summer will perform better the next year. Parents can do a lot at home during the summer to help students prepare for the next year. Daily reading and math facts can do a lot to help students. Additionally, parents can continue to use our online subscription to Lexia throughout the summer to help students become better readers.

Recently in talking with a parent she said "My first grade son recently made a huge jump in his reading thanks to Lexia. In the past he has only worked on Lexia at home inconsistently. I wanted him to work on it more, so I found an incentive that would motivate him. He ended up doing Lexia 30-60 minutes everyday for two weeks. I was happy that he was spending his screen time doing something educational and he was happy earning a reward, but the real reward came when his teacher sent home a note saying that he moved up three guided reading levels. I really think that doing Lexia consistently made the difference. Thank you Lincoln Academy for providing this reading program for us to use at home. I am definitely going to make Lexia part of my son’s summer routine!"

If you would like to learn more about Lexia you can contact Mr. Hinton- hinton@lincoln-academy.org.

Another way to engage students is through educational apps. There are many apps that help student develop their basic skills. Plan now for an hour of educational work a day, which can go a long way to help your student succeed next year.

Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a great way to help your older students continue their summer learning. Check out Khan Academy and learn more athttp://www.khanacademy.org/about. I highly recommend this as a great educational resource.

I hope you all have a safe, fun summer. I look forward to another great year next year where we can all continue to help students grow and succeed.

MESSAGE FROM ENROLLMENT

Parents:

Teachers, parents, and administration work diligently to continue to provide a great educational experience and safe environment for all of our students here at Lincoln Academy. We are grateful for the opportunity to be partners with parents in this endeavor. We have processed our lottery and have extensive waiting lists for most grades which is very exciting and shows what a great school we have. If you have decided that your students will not be returning to Lincoln for the 2015-2016 school year, please notify Josephine North at the front desk as soon as possible.

Please continue to record all volunteer hours on the website. Continued sibling preference is dependent upon completion of all 40 volunteer hours of service. The siblings for whom the hours are completed will be placed on the regular wait list. Thank you.

It’s never too late! If you haven't done so, please go online and link your Smith's card, Target Red Card, Ridley's card, Macey's card, and Amazon account with Lincoln Academy. Remember...you have to link your Smith's card every year, so if you haven't done that in a while, please do it again. This is an easy way to bring in money to the school!
