FROM MR. HUNT

Parents:

We appreciate your support and help thus far.  We have had a successful first four months of school.  As we look forward to the break, I'd like you to be aware of a couple of things.

Friday, Dec 20th- We will be having a full day of school on Friday, December 20th.  The schedule will be the same and students will not be released until 2:30.

more

Holiday Break Reading- Please encourage your students to spend time each day reading.  Continued and increased reading will help build comprehension and fluency.  Additionally, consider how often your children see you reading.  Modeling reading in the home is also a way to encourage your children to read more.

Update on our Expansion- The school is still working through the funding process for the new building.  We have been finalizing floor plans and will have a rendition of what the building will look like next week. Construction is scheduled to begin March 1st and be completed by August 11th.  We still need you to talk to your friends and encourage them to enroll their children.  We have videos you can share on our YouTube channel.

BOX TOPS/LABELS FOR EDUCATION CONTEST

We will be starting the next Box Tops and Labels for Education collection right after the winter break so please continue collecting them, especially over the holiday.  In the past we haven't had as much success in the 2nd competition as we have had in the 1st, and we would love to change this so we are going to do something a little different this time.  Instead of having the competition between classes, we will be giving each class a goal of 1500 Box Tops and labels.  We will put up a chart in each classroom so that the kids and teachers will know how much more Box Tops and/or labels they will need in order to win.  We will try and update those charts once a week.  Each classroom that reaches their goal will get a movie and popcorn and a free dress day.

more

We will also have an overall winner again.  That winner will get the movie, popcorn (if they reach their 1500 mark), and a chocolate fondue party.  We will get some more of the collection sheets handed out before winter break and will still offer a small treat for each of those that are turned in completed.

Remember that Box Tops and Labels for Education are not just on food products; they can be found on other household items as well.

Here is a list:

Labels for Education are found on  Bic, Danimals, Campbell's, Glad, Pepperidge Farms, Pop Secret, Post, Spaghettios, Swanson, V8, and Emerald brand products.

(Remember that  we only need the UPC code or the beverage caps for the labels for education.)

Box Tops are found on Hanes, Betty Crocker, General Mills Cereals, Bisquick, Ziploc, Yoplait, Pillsbury, Green Giant, Hamburger Helper, Old El Paso, Progresso, Kleenex, Cottonelle, Scott toilet paper, Land O' Lakes, Avery school supplies, and Hefty products.

STUDENT COUNCIL/EMERGENCY PREP BLANKET COLLECTION

Just a reminder about the fleece blanket drive going now thru December 20th.  Blankets are on sale at Big Lots for $3 and Wal-Mart for less than $3.  We are so excited for this opportunity to help our school, and we are grateful for all the support you as parents continually give throughout the year!  Thank you for all your help!

HEALTH WEEK

We are having a Health Week for the elementary students April 14-18.  We will be focusing on physical activity, eating healthy, being safe (bike and car safety), taking care of our teeth, and not smoking.  If you are interested in helping with this week of activities, or have any ideas for it, please contact Heather Hall at heather@hallblog.com.

RE-ENROLLMENT - JAN. 14-15

ALL Lincoln families must re-enroll.  Re-enrollment will take place January 14th and 15th.  Please plan to re-enroll at that time.

We request 40 volunteer hours per family per school year and that 25 of those hours be completed by re-enrollment.  Continued sibling preference is dependent upon completion of volunteer hours.

Please take some time during the holiday break to record your volunteer hours for August - December!!
