FROM MR. HUNT

Occasionally I'm assigned to go and be on an accreditation team at another school. I had the opportunity to do this just last week. I was reminded as I spent two days at another school how it is so great to be here at Lincoln. The parental support, level of student behavior and responsiveness, and the dedication and quality instruction of teachers is amazing at Lincoln. Sometimes it is easy to forget how green your own grass is until you spend some time on the other side. Thank you for everything you do to make Lincoln Academy a great place to be!

Support of Reading and Box Top Programs

Thanks for your support of our Jazz reading program.  We read 30,000 more minutes than last year.  Any event that can get students reading is a great event.  Also we were able to gather more box tops this year than last.  As always your support at home helps your students and our school become better.

JAZZ READING CONTEST

The Jazz Reading Contest was a huge success.  Our students read 460,000 minutes!  We placed in the top 11-20 schools in the entire state of Utah.  As a prize we will be receiving a signed basketball from the Utah Jazz.  It will be on display in the front office.

SEVEN PEAKS READING PROGRAM

March is the Seven Peak's Peak Reader Program. One FREE day pass to Seven Peaks will be offered to each child in grades K-6. They need to read for 500 minutes in the month of March and turn in an official log to their teacher by April 2nd. The log and rules sheet have already been sent home. Please make sure to fill in the form completely. They won’t be valid if they aren’t signed on BOTH sides.

SPRING RUN OFF CHALLENGE

We hope everyone is getting ready for our annual spring fun run.  Our race will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 8 a.m.  For those of you who are ready to increase the challenge we will have a 10K course as well as our traditional 5K and 1 mile courses.  This is a very fun event that we sponsor as a culmination of our school Health Week.  This year's proceeds will go toward getting uniforms for our soccer and volleyball teams. We hope everyone will take this challenge and celebrate being more active with our families and friends this spring.

The cost for Lincoln participants is - $10 for the 1 Mile and 5k runs and $15 for the 10k.  You need to pick up an entry form at the front office to get this price.

Race details, course maps, and registration info will be coming soon to the school website and Parent Council Facebook page.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHTS

Thank you so much for the generous contributions of Deanna and Larry Lindstrom and Aliesha and Harlan Nielson to the Elementary and Jr. High Special Ed Departments. Their contributions are SO appreciated! The money they donated has been used to help improve math instruction in Special Ed.  With this donation, we have been able to put money towards our school’s purchase of “TouchMath Subtraction“ in the Elementary and “Saxon: Course 1” in the Jr. High. This new curriculum is a great help to our program at Lincoln Academy.

A big THANK YOU from all of us!

-Kim Clyde, Io Tongi, Shelley Barrett and the rest of your friends in Special Ed

Ms. Smith’s English classes are so grateful to the McIntyres for sponsoring them! Because of their generous donations, they were able to put on a fabulous Colonial Day and several other activities that are planned. They have been able to purchase items to enhance the classes as well. They are hoping to participate in a field trip later this year, and will be able to purchase special items to help the Special Education English class that will make the learning much more fun and effective, which makes your donation priceless! Thank you SO much for your generosity!!!

-Erin Smith

Special thanks to the Wellers for their generous sponsoring of the Drama class! Drama can be an expensive undertaking, and because of the donations made by the Weller family, this year’s classes have been able to complete projects in a fun way.  There are also plans to purchase some special software programming to make the activities even more enhanced! THANK YOU for being such great supporters of the Arts at Lincoln Academy!

-Erin Smith

GoTV is a fairly new undertaking here at Lincoln Academy, and because of the generous sponsorship of the Shatswells, students are learning amazing skills in writing, reporting, and broadcasting! The donations made to GoTV are going towards some very cool software programs that will make our broadcasts even more amazing! Not only will the broadcasts look neat, but it will make it easier for the students to compile their stories, leaving more time for the more important practice in writing and reporting, rather than wrestling with technology. Thank you SO much for sponsoring our class, we couldn’t do it without you!!!

-Erin Smith

Mr. Thorson and his math students would like to express their appreciation for the sponsor money that the Lindstrom family donated. It has allowed us to purchase math tools to do geometric constructions, a hands-on approach to geometry.  It has also allowed us to give reward parties to the highest achieving classes.  This really motivates many students to do well in order to receive this reward.  We plan on continuing to use the funds to purchase additional supplies and rewards for excellence.  Thank you so much.

-Mr. Thorson and Students.
