FROM MR. HUNT
|
|
The first term is over. Your students have learned a lot and participated in fun meaningful activities. As the second term begins I have just a few items to share with you.
more
Fundraiser Thank You Last month we had a restaurant fundraiser and movie night. I have had many parents mention that they enjoy these nights because they have the opportunity to meet other families from the school. Our fundraiser with Pizza Pie Cafe was wildly successful! We received over $700 from this fundraiser. Thank you so much. This money goes to adding technology to the classroom. Last year we were able to buy some Pana Boards for two classrooms. We plan on adding more technology to the classrooms this year with your help.
End of Term Events Many events come with the end of the term. Your elementary students will receive their report cards on November 4th. Your Junior High student report cards will be emailed to you starting on November 3rd and on the 4th. Students in Junior High who qualified for the honor roll will be recognized on the 9th. Those Junior High students with perfect 4.0's will be invited to eat lunch with me on the 10th and those who qualify for Super-iExcel will be able to attend on the 11th.
Homework Habits If you haven't started yet, it will be best for your student if you create a common homework schedule in your home. Students who have parents involved in their homework traditionally do better in school. Reading papers they write, checking math homework for accuracy and completeness, and having students read to you are simple ways that will help your student do better in school. It does take time, but it really is a huge investment in your child's future.

Parents! Need a night out for some Christmas shopping? 5th and 6th grade students are trying to earn some extra money for an overnight experience at the Christa McAuliffe Space Center. Our 5th and 6th grade students will get to experience a day mission at the Christa McAuliffe Space Center in Pleasant Grove in November. However, they always want more - so, we have signed up for an overnight experience December 9-10th.

This experience is chaperoned by personnel from the Alpine School District. If you are uneasy about having your child sleep over, you may pick them up late the evening of December 9th and return them about 7:30 the next morning to complete the mission. Space is limited to the first 45 students who turn in their forms and checks. The cost is $43.00 (check payable to the space center - do not write checks to Lincoln Academy). CLASS SPONSORS
|
|
Miss Kelly’s Class Thanks the Walbruch Family! Thanks to our Business Partners our class can engage in enriching Higher-Order Learning and Thinking Activities both in and out the classroom. From simply purchasing materials for a Science experiment, to having experts bring in models tied to a concept we are studying, our funds prove to be invaluable! Our sponsor makes it possible for us to enjoy filed trips to Camp Floyd and This is the Place Heritage Park (which both coincide with our unit on Utah History. Thank you also for helping to make our seasonal class parties, reward systems, and class store amazing! We are eternally grateful for the Walbruchs’ willingness to help our class. We wish them all the best in their future Real Estate adventures!

Our AM Kindergarten sponsor this year is the Smart Family.
We are so pleased to have their support this year! As a kindergarten class, we depend on our sponsors to help us facilitate extra activities that are fun and meaningful. This year, as in years past, our sponsors make it possible to run our "Mrs. Packer's 50-Books Club". Elements of the 50-Books club include a t-shirt as well as a special field trip to the Scera in Orem to participate in children's theater. Thanks to our sponsors, we also now have a book holder for our big books, as well as new guided reading books. These are just a few of the things that our sponsors have provided our classroom with this year. Thanks again! We couldn't do it without you!!
The sponsor for Mrs. Hiatt's class is Kerri Evans.
Our class has already benefited from Mrs. Evan's generosity. At the beginning of the year we bought book bins to store our books in during our Reading Workshop. We use them every day and they help so much with our class organization. We have also bought books to help our classroom library to grow. We are planning on going to two plays this year: Beauty and the Beast in November and Tall Tales at the Scera Theater in February. These activities will be a special treat made possible by our wonderful sponsor. It takes so many people to help our students succeed and we are so grateful to Kerri Evans for her great contribution to our 2nd grade class.
Mr. and Mrs. Fenton are the business sponsors of Mrs. Jackson's fifth grade class.
Because of their generosity, our students are having many enriching experiences. Some of these opportunities include: getting ice cream after the chemistry show on our BYU fieldtrip, going to the Space Center in Pleasant Grove, making Christmas gifts for our families, doing Colonial projects, watching the BYU Shakespeare Troupe perform a Shakespearean play, and eating a scrumptious Renaissance Feast. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton!

Each year at Lincoln we provide all classrooms with emergency supplies. We include Nature Valley Oats 'N Honey granola bars for each student as an emergency food supply. If your child has allergies to any of the following: soy, peanuts, almonds or pecans, you will need to provide an alternative snack for their emergency food supply.

more
Jr. High students: Please pack 8 snacks bags, 7 if your child has released time. 2 small snack items in each of the 8/7 ziplock sandwich or quart size bags, with the child's name and the words "Emergency Preparedness" on them and deliver them to each of their teachers. Mid-year they will be reminded to switch their snack bags to their new classes.

DOLLAR DRESS DAY
|
|
The Lincoln Academy Parent Council hosts Dollar Dress Days on the first Wednesday of each month. Students bring a dollar for the option to wear free dress. (Appropriate free dress can be found at the end of the uniform policy linked from the school website.) This free dress day is totally optional. Students are encouraged to earn their own dollar to pay for their free dress option.
We will be giving a hand stamp when the students pay their dollar. We would like to have 2-3 volunteers come from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. to help so the Jr. High Seminary students that are just getting to school can participate.
