WELCOME FROM MR. HUNT
|
We had a fairly smooth first few days of school. The first days are always exciting, fun, a little scary, and tiring. I think parents, teachers, and students all experience most of these feelings when it comes to starting school again. Meeting new families and seeing continuing families once again during the first week has been a nice change from the quieter summer months. Thank you for your continued support, words of encouragement, smiles, and waves.
more
As school starts there are bumps, and small problems. Thank you for your patience. We should have most junior high student class changes made and elementary math classes should be finalized soon. If junior high students want to make class changes, they have until September 3rd to do it without charge. We will charge $5 to change a class the week of September 6th-10th. After September 10, there will be no class changes.
Our carpool has run fairly smooth. Remember if you are picking up in the back, once you have all your students you can move to the left and pass cars who are still waiting. Please remember that the speed limit on school grounds is 5 mph.
If you have concerns that you would like to address with me, please make an appointment to come and see me. The front office will be able to assist you with this. Also, if you have attendance or discipline questions, those policies are found on our website.
A final word of advice: students work best when they are used to a routine. Start a routine now that includes time for homework, adequate sleep, and a good breakfast. It will make a difference throughout the year.
I look forward to great weeks in the future. Thank you for making Lincoln Academy your school of choice. Jake Hunt, Principal

$1 FREE DRESS DAY
|
|
The Lincoln Parent Council hosts $1 free dress days on the first Wednesday of each month. Our first $1 Free Dress Day will be Wednesday, September 1. Students bring a dollar for the option to wear free dress. (Appropriate free dress can be found at the end of the uniform policy linked from the school website.) This free dress day is totally optional. Students are encouraged to earn their own dollar to pay for their free dress option.
This year we will be giving a hand stamp when the students pay their dollar and doing random stamp checks in the classrooms. We would like to have 2-3 volunteers come from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday to help with checks.

FALL FESTIVAL 2010
|
|
It’s that time of the year when we at Lincoln start off with a bang! Our Fall Festival will be on Friday, September 17th from 4-8pm. This is also Constitution Day and we will be getting the parents involved by having a contest to see if they are “Smarter than a 5th Grader” and answering questions about the Constitution. So parents start reading! We will have prizes for the first three that get as many questions as possible correct. This should be fun.
more
We have A-Carniball Fun bringing in the blow-ups and games, CLAS Ropes bringing in the Climbing Wall and the AeroBall jumper especially for Junior High students, and of course, the Dunk Tank with Mr. Hunt as the first victim! There will be prizes for the games. Prices for the carnival are as follows:
- Wristbands: $12.00 presale or $15.00 at the door
- Climbing Wall and AeroBall jumper will be $1.00 per person. (This activity is cash only and is not included with the wristband.)
- Game tickets-4 for a $1.00 presale or $.50 at the door.
We strongly suggest ordering wristbands and tickets ahead of time to get the better price.
The food will be awesome, including Navajo Tacos, Teriyaki Beef sticks, pizza, drinks, chips, scones and shaved ice. Food must be purchased with a punch card. The food cards will be $5.00 with 10 punches per card.
You can pre-order wristbands, game tickets and food punch cards using the Make a Payment link on lower left-hand side of the school website: www.lincoln-academy.org.
Please be sure to list what you are purchasing in the Notes section. The deadline for pre-orders is Sept. 8th, so purchase your tickets early!
We will be having a silent auction which will be very different and hopefully stress-free for everyone! Please mark your calendar and come and join us. We hope to see you there!

VOLUNTEERING AT LINCOLN
|
|
Lincoln Academy depends on our family volunteers to get many projects done! Wondering what you can do?
more
You can:
-
check with your child’s teacher and/or room mother;
-
call or email Bernice Pratt for other ideas (pratts009@hotmail.com or 801-756-1439).
We know every family has special scheduling needs so we will do what we can to find volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule or you may choose to donate $500 in place of participating in the volunteer hours.
A "Volunteer Binder" will be available at the front desk where you can peruse volunteer opportunities within the parent council.
Please record your volunteer hours on your family’s card in our volunteer box located at the front desk. It’s important that you record your volunteer hours regularly and even once you exceed your family’s 40 hours because all of our volunteer hours allows Lincoln to earn grant money.
